Master Plans Jointly Developed with Turkish Firm Studio Vertebra and the World Bank Discussed in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 12 June 2025, a meeting was held with the participation of Gencer Yalçın and Mehmet Bektaş, senior executives of the Turkish architectural firm Studio Vertebra; Muhammad Nada, Senior Urban Development Specialist at the World Bank; and Ilkhom Norkulov, First Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The participants exchanged views on the development and implementation of master plans aimed at creating livable, recreational, and leisure-friendly environments, as well as expanding green zones across the regions.

Studio Vertebra, founded in 2009 in Istanbul, is a leading architectural and design firm specializing in integrated solutions—from urban development concepts to interior design—with a focus on ecological sustainability, contemporary approaches, and regional cultural identity.

The meeting highlighted global best practices and methodological approaches in master planning, along with the specific challenges and opportunities of implementing such projects in Uzbekistan.

Special attention was given to upcoming initiatives under the master plan for Kungrad district. Discussions focused on unlocking the district’s economic potential, building a modern urban environment, enhancing trade and services, and improving the quality of life and investment appeal.

The master plans envisage infrastructure modernization, improved living standards, increased investment, job creation, and efficient land use. Emphasis is also placed on developing green infrastructure, driving digital transformation, and ensuring environmental sustainability.
