Market Services Volume Reaches 373.481 Trillion Soums in January–May 2025

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — According to preliminary data, taking into account statistical assessments of the informal and shadow economy, the volume of market services rendered in Uzbekistan from January to May 2025 reached 373.481 trillion soums. Compared to the same period in 2024, the growth rate amounted to 113.3%, with an absolute increase of 73.462 trillion soums, according to the National Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

In January–May 2024, the volume of services totaled 300.019 trillion soums, with a growth rate of 113.0%.

In the first five months of 2025, Tashkent city accounted for 38.0% of the total volume of market services — or 141.794 trillion soums. The region's growth rate reached 117.0% compared to the same period of 2024.

Notably high shares were also recorded in Samarkand (7.1%), Tashkent (6.7%), and Fergana (6.6%) regions.

In Syrdarya region, the volume of market services stood at 5.103 trillion soums, comprising 1.4% of the total. The region saw a growth of 13.7%.

Compared to January–May 2024 (8.1347 million soums), the per capita volume of market services in January–May 2025 increased by 1.7929 million soums or 11.0%, reaching 9.9276 million soums.

Tashkent city posted the highest per capita figure for the period. Compared to January–May 2024, this indicator rose by 9.3478 million soums or 14.4%, reaching 45.4381 million soums.

The lowest per capita value was recorded in Surkhandarya region, at 4.2621 million soums. The growth rate for market services per capita there reached 109.3%.

During the reporting period, market services provided by small businesses amounted to 202.604 trillion soums, or 54.2% of the total volume of market services.

In Tashkent city, the volume of services rendered by small businesses rose by 10.4305 trillion soums (or 11.8%) compared to the same period in 2024, totaling 55.6567 trillion soums. The share of small businesses in the city’s market services stood at 39.3%.

High volumes were also observed in the Fergana (18.3171 trillion soums), Tashkent (17.9943 trillion), and Samarkand (16.792 trillion) regions.

In Syrdarya region, the volume of market services provided by small businesses amounted to 3.2747 trillion soums. Compared to January–May 2024, the growth rate reached 111.5%.

Meanwhile, relatively low figures were recorded in Navoi (5.0005 trillion soums) and Jizzakh (6.4661 trillion) regions.

To increase the service sector’s share in the national economy and further support entrepreneurs in this area, Presidential Decree No. PP-78 of February 27, 2025, titled “On Additional Measures to Create Favorable Conditions for Sustainable Development of the Service Sector,” established development targets and mechanisms for ongoing monitoring.

The key driver behind the increase in total market service volume was growth in financial services by 19.1% (contributing 3.3 percentage points to total growth), transport services by 14.0% (2.6 points), trade services by 10.2% (1.8 points), accommodation and food services by 7.7% (1.6 points), and telecommunications and IT services by 23.5% (1.6 points). Growth in rental services (25.6%), architectural services (23.3%), real estate-related services (11.9%), and education services (8.9%) together contributed an additional 0.3 percentage points to overall growth.

From January to May 2025, the breakdown of market services by type showed accommodation and food services making up 20.3%, transport services 18.9%, financial services 17.0%, trade services 16.5%, IT and communication services 7.8%, and education services 4.0%.

Compared to January–May 2024, accommodation and food services increased by 13.2063 trillion soums to reach 75.8007 trillion soums. This growth was mainly driven by food and beverage services, which accounted for 95.7% of the total within this category.

Transport services for the period totaled 70.7236 trillion soums, reflecting a 14.0% growth rate compared to the same months in 2024. Their share in the total market services volume stood at 18.9%.

Within transport services, road transport had the largest share at 49.5%. Air transport accounted for 15.7%, pipeline transport for 13.8%, auxiliary transport activities for 12.1%, and rail transport services for 8.9%.

Trade services increased by 8.7092 trillion soums over the same period of 2024, reaching 61.5672 trillion soums.

Retail trade services made up the largest share of this category — 52.8%. Wholesale trade services accounted for 30.0%, while trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles (including repair services) made up 17.2%.

Telecommunication and IT services reached 28.9378 trillion soums. The bulk of this was driven by computer programming services, which comprised 42.6% of the category. Compared to January–May 2024, this segment grew by 134.6%.

Education-related services amounted to 14.747 trillion soums. Within this sector, higher education services held the largest share at 49.2%.

In the total volume of real estate services (9.8456 trillion soums), services related to leasing and managing owned or leased properties accounted for 94.6%.

Healthcare services reached 7.4357 trillion soums during the reporting period. Of this, other medical services made up 51.8%, hospital services accounted for 31.7%, and medical and dental practice services for 16.5%.

Rental and leasing services showed a high share of passenger vehicle rentals, which made up 50.7% of the total in that category.
