Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Starting from 1 December 2024, Uzbekistan will implement a mandatory system for aggregating labeling codes for water and non-alcoholic beverages. This announcement was made by representatives of the Tax Committee during a meeting with industry stakeholders.
Entrepreneurs had requested an extension of the implementation deadline, citing the need to restructure business processes and technical challenges in using equipment and software.
However, the Tax Committee emphasized that businesses had been given two years to prepare. During this time, approximately 200 producers and 250 importers registered in the labeling system.
Despite the requests, the Tax Committee declined to extend the deadline for mandatory aggregation. To address any issues and discuss challenges, a working group will be formed, including representatives from the committee, entrepreneurs, and the Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Mandatory aggregation involves combining product labeling codes within their packaging for streamlined distribution to retailers.
This system aims to effectively track products from the manufacturer to the end consumer, ensuring transparency and accountability in the supply chain.
