Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A man died in the city of Chirchik following a fight. This was reported by the press service of the Tashkent regional police department.

Earlier, information surfaced on social media in which the mother of the deceased claimed that her son had tried to protect a woman but suffered severe injuries, fell into a coma, and later died.

According to the police, the incident occurred on 5 March and was related to a conflict between two men over alcohol sales. As a result, one of the participants sustained serious injuries and later died in the hospital.

A criminal case has been initiated under part 3, article 104 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan ("Intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm resulting in the victim's death"). The suspect was detained on March 7, and the court has chosen to place him in custody.

The police department has urged citizens to refrain from spreading unverified information.
