Lonestar Corporation, a United Arabic Emirates (UAE) company that recently shifted domicile to Malta, announced that it had won two contracts totalling nearly US$6 million in the republics of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
The contracts are to supply transportation and construction equipment to assist the governments’ infrastructure development programmes, the Malta Independent Online reported on 28 Saturday July.
Lonestar is sourcing the equipment from China. Ian Smith, one of the directors of the company, said that Lonestar was the single largest Maltese company facilitating exports from China, having contracted for nearly US$70 million worth of Chinese equipment, in the year up to July.
Lonestar is also servicing a contract to supply the services of medical professionals from the Philippines, to Oil companies in Central Asia and Northern Africa.
Lonestar moved its operational headquarters to Malta attracted by the government’s incentives to companies to shift their regional headquarters to Malta, taking advantage of Malta’s tax regime, skilled workforce and quality of life and geographical position.
