Malaysian designer uses Uzbek ikat

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbek ikat, khan-atlas and adras, weaving technique of which has been passed from generation to generation for many centuries, are an integral part of the wardrobe of not only Uzbek women, they also won the hearts of fashionistas and connoisseurs of exquisite handmade fabrics from around the world and are very popular among leading representatives of the fashion industry.

Supporting the traditions of silk craftsmen from Uzbekistan, the founder of this company, designer Franki Turner uses traditional textile motifs, which have become a trademark and a kind of signature of Frankitas house.

The design house has a network of boutiques presented throughout Southeast Asia, Japan, Spain and the United States, as well as exclusive trade centers in Four Seasons, Ritz-Carlton, Shangri-La and St.Regis hotels, in such world resorts as Langkawi, Bali, Goa, Maldives and others.

The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Kuala Lumpur develops close cooperation with this brand, a series of events are planned to promote Uzbek ikat and develop further production links between craftsmen from Uzbekistan and the Malaysian fashion house.
