Malaysian company to build solar photovoltaic power plants in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Malaysia’s Fabulous Sunview Sdn Bhd, a 100% subsidiary of Sunview Group Bhd, has signed a development and cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan to develop two large solar photovoltaic power plants and battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Uzbekistan.

Sunview said its unit will be responsible for the design, procurement and construction of a 400 megawatt (MW) AC solar photovoltaic power plant with a 100 MW/200 MWh BESS in Andijan region.

The company will also build a 200 MW AC solar PV plant with 50 MW/100 MWh BESS in Ferghana region. The company did not disclose the cost of the projects.

Group executive director and chief executive Ong noted that these projects will accelerate Uzbekistan’s transition to renewable energy, helping the country achieve 40% renewable energy contribution to the overall energy mix by 2030.

“By increasing the share of renewable energy sources, our projects will not only contribute to stable energy supply, but will also reduce the country’s carbon dioxide emissions,” he added.

It was previously reported that Green Energy LLC, the Malaysian company Fabalous Sunview and Huawei Tech Investment Tashkent from China signed a cooperation agreement.

According to this agreement, it is planned to jointly develop “green” energy in Uzbekistan and build small solar photovoltaic power plants with a total capacity of 50 MW at social facilities, as well as on buildings and structures of government institutions.
