Majilis of Kazakhstan approves protocol with Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Majilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan approved a law “On ratification of the Protocol on Amendments and Additions to the Protocol to the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan on border crossing points on the Kazakh-Uzbek state border from 4 September 2006”.

The protocol envisages transfer of the railway checkpoint of the Republic of Kazakhstan from Beineu station to the Oasis station.

The document defines the status of the Kaplanbek, Kazygurt and Atameken automobile checkpoints as international (multilateral) and round-the-clock checkpoints.

Within the framework of the document, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan intend to open bilateral (interstate) checkpoints Tselinny and Syrdarya, which will be used only for the passage of cars.

The parties also intend to open another automobile checkpoint on the Kazakh-Uzbek border - at the Shardara-Maktala point.

Currently, this point is under repair now. Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan intend to adopt a decision on including it in the list of checkpoints.
