Features of the carpet weaving knots (cheten, zili, ladi, sumakh, verni, jedjim, and many others) magically help to create completely different patterns of carpets, which were reflected in the name of the exhibition.
One of the special guests invited to the exhibition were: the director of Azerbaijan State Museum of Carpet, the chairman of the Azerbaijan National Committee of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) Roya Tagiyeva, and Doctor of Arts Saltanat Tagiyeva.
After the ceremony of cutting the red ribbon, the exhibition was officially declared to be opened. The gallery of the exhibition has been consisted of 60 carpets, which were specially brought from different museums of Baku. Moreover, there were stands with photos, showing the process of manufacturing of the carpets, as well as especial video, devoted to process of carpet production in Azerbaijan.
The history of development of the carpet weaving art in Azerbaijan dates back to the Bronze Age – the period then the carpet became an essential part of the household. The first person who mentioned about Azerbaijani carpets was ancient historian Herodotus. And during eighth - fifteen centuries, Azerbaijani carpets became most popular goods, exported to the West.
The exhibition will be open till October 22, 2012. Entrance is free.
