Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan said that representatives of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Belgium held a meeting with the coordinator of international relations department of Chamber of Commerce of Luxembourg Niels Dickens. The meeting was aimed at strengthening bilateral trade relations.

During the meeting, the sides discussed current state and perspective of trade-economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Luxembourg, as well as establishment of partnership relations between commerce chambers of two states.

Niels Dickens was briefed about social-economic development of Uzbekistan, reforms in Uzbekistan, development priorities of the country, as well as environment for foreign investors and businesses. It was said that Uzbekistan focuses on attracting foreign investments to high-technological production.

In context of announcement of 2011 as the Year of Small Businesses and Private Entrepreneurship in Uzbekistan, the sides underlined importance of development of relations between private sectors of two states.

During the discussions issues of expanding bilateral trade-economic cooperation and attracting Luxembourg businesses to Uzbekistan, Dickens confirmed principle readiness of organization of joint seminar dedicated to the presentation of investment and economic potential of Uzbekistan at the Chamber of Commerce of Luxembourg.

Niels Dickens, confirming interest of Luxembourg businesses to study Uzbekistan, said it is important to organize the event with attracting the Uzbek businesses, operating in various sectors of economy.

At the same time, it was said that the Luxembourg businesses are interested in such sectors as banking-finance, transport and logistics, service, information technologies and automobile sectors.

The sides preliminary agreed to organize the event in September or October 2011.
