Lukoil increases gas mining in Uzbekistan by 70.2% in 1Q
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Russia’s Lukoil increase mining of natural gas in Uzbekistan by 70.2% in the first quarter of 2012, the company’s report said.

The company mined 233 million cubic meters of gas at Gissar field (commercial mining of gas started in December 2011) and increased gas mining at Khauzak by 244 million cubic meters or 35.9%.

Lukoil said it directed US$149 million to exploration and mining of gas in Uzbekistan in the first quarter of 2012 against US$124 million in the first quarter of 2011.

Currently, Lukoil implements three projects in Uzbekistan – Kandym-Khauzak-Shady-Kungrad, Southern-Western Gissar and exploration of the Uzbek part of Aral Sea as part of international consortium.

Lukoil started to produce gas in Uzbekistan in autumn 2007 within the product-sharing agreement Kandym-Khauzak-Shady-Kungrad, signed in 2004 with term of 35 years.

In 2010, the company increased gas production in this project up to 3 billion cubic meters and plans to increase the volume till 4 billion cubic meters of gas in 2012.

In 2014, the company plans to receive first gas at Kandym field and by 2017, it plans to increase gas production up to 10 billion cubic meters in this field.
