The visit was aimed at familiarizing with sire of ancient settlement Paykend (Bukhara city), which is studied by the group of archeologists of Louvre Museum led by archeologist of Islam art department Rocco Rante. The group is carrying out archeological digs for two years.

At the assistance of Culture Affairs of the French Embassy in Uzbekistan, Louvre Museum delegation held talks with the Uzbek partners on activity of the museum in Uzbekistan and visited ancient sights of Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara.

The visit allowed Louvre Museum head to confirm interest in Uzbekistan and set plans for developing archeological activity in partnership with Fund Forum of Culture and Art of Uzbekistan and Samarkand Archeology Institute.

French Embassy in Uzbekistan said that it is planned to hold temporary exhibition dedicated to Bukhara oasis at Louvre Museum in near future.
