Lord David Cameron to hvisit Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- British Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs Lord David Cameron intends to visit Uzbekistan as part of his visit to Central Asia.

According to British media reports, David Cameron plans to visit Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Mongolia to strengthen ties in the fields of trade, security and environmental protection.

During his visit to Tajikistan, David Cameron emphasized Britain’s readiness to begin a new era in relations with the Central Asian republics.

“We are here to offer increased partnership and cooperation,” said the head of the British Foreign Office.

At negotiations with leaders of countries in the region, Lord Cameron intends to discuss issues related to circumvention of sanctions, human rights and reforms.

There are also plans to increase funding for Chevening scholarships available to international students to study in the UK, as well as £50 million for development in the region over the next three years.

In addition, a new program to promote the English language will be announced, including online learning resources with tailored content available to teachers throughout Central Asia.
