Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund (RKDF) has started financing the construction of the Kokcho-Koz Transport and Logistics Center (TLC), which will be located along the Irkeshtam–Osh–Uzbekistan highway.
This initiative is part of the Kyrgyz leadership’s directive to enhance the capacity of customs checkpoints and develop the country’s transport and logistics infrastructure.
The center is expected to handle the sharply increased cargo flow from China, reaching 500–700 trucks per day, which places a heavy burden on the existing logistics facilities.
The TLC will be constructed on a 17-hectare site near populated areas, three kilometers from Osh, helping to alleviate urban traffic and reduce congestion caused by large freight vehicles.
The project aims to create a facility meeting international standards, improving customs administration of export and transit cargo, particularly on the Kyrgyzstan–Russia route.
According to Artem Novikov, Chairman of the RKDF Board, the new center will handle up to 700 vehicles daily and offer a full range of logistics services, including customs clearance, inspection, and cargo storage. Moreover, 30% of the center’s profits will be directed to Kyrgyzstan’s state budget.
The Kokcho-Koz TLC will become a key transit hub in Central Asia, facilitating the processing of goods transported from China through Kyrgyzstan, creating over 100 new jobs, and generating additional tax revenues for the budget. RKDF reaffirmed its commitment to supporting strategically significant projects that drive economic growth and strengthen the republic’s infrastructure.
