Finance 28/01/2014 Loan portfolio of NBU reached 6.82 trillion soums

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The loan of the National Bank for Foreign Economic Activity of Uzbekistan made up over 6.82 trillion soums as of 1 January 2014, the press service of the bank said.

The volume of loans, issued to small businesses in national currency by NBU, made up 1.04 trillion soums in 2013.

NBU said that due to all sources of financing, the bank issued microloans for 143.1 billion soums in the reporting period.

The bank said that it finances local businesses with use of credit lines of international financial institutions as EBRD, ADB, IFC, KfW, OPEC Fund.

The bank within two credit lines of China Development Bank opened financing to 44 projects for total sum of US$29 million. Within the credit line of Korea Eximbank, it financed 14 projects for US$13.9 million and Landesbank – three projects for 6 million euros.

The NBU said that 68 insolvent enterprises were handed over to balance of the bank to improve their financial conditions and modernize their production capacities. The bank invested over 208 billion soums, of which 50.6 billion soums in 2013.

Currently, 26 enterprises for 262.7 billion soums were realized to new investors, including to foreign investors, the bank said.

The enterprises produced over 181.7 billion soums in 2013 and exported products for US$34.5 million, the bank said. As of 1 January 2014, the commercial bank of Uzbekistan issued 1.75 million banking cards, of which 786,400 cards were issued within so-called salary projects. Number of installed POS-terminals reached 14,377 units.

The bank said that number of its clients increased by 16.4% in 2013 and exceeded 3 million.
