Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- By order of the Minister of Health, an updated list of essential medicines (LEM) was approved.

LEM is formed on the basis of the pharmacotherapeutic classification in force on the territory of Uzbekistan, in accordance with the Guidelines for compiling a list of essential medicines and medical products of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

This list is used to analyze the needs of medical institutions, rationally organize the procurement and distribution of medicines, train employees in the correct use of them, stimulate the production of essential drugs by local pharmaceutical enterprises, control the availability of essential drugs and determine prices for them.

Medicines are included in the list with the indication of the international nonproprietary name, a dosage and a form of release. If medicinal products do not have an international non-proprietary name, a substitute name or composition is indicated.

The new list includes 65 drug groups.
