Likhachev announced Russia’s readiness to offer large and small nuclear power plants to Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Rosatom State Corporation can provide partners from Uzbekistan with an expanded offer, including nuclear power plants of both high and low power. We are talking, among other things, about proposals based on the RITM-200 reactor, the head of the state corporation clarified. The head of the corporation, Alexey Likhachev, stated this on Channel One, TASS reports.

“Today there has already been a request to include the topic of small power plants in the package of agreements [with Uzbekistan]. We have such proposals based on the RITM-200 reactor, we are talking about a total power of up to 330 megawatts. I think we will have such a large expanded offering that includes both high and low power,” he said.

On 6 October, Russian President Vladimir Putin met in Moscow with the leader of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who arrived in Russia on an official visit.

On 29 December 2017, Russia and Uzbekistan signed an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the field of the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. The document involves joint work in several areas, including the construction of nuclear power plants in the republic and the development of uranium deposits.
