The Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan issued a resolution “On measures on improving order of licensing and carrying out tourism activity” on 13 March 2014. The document simplified order of licensing of family enterprises in hotel sphere. The resolution decreased the requirement on the size of charter capital from 400 sizes of minimal salary to 10 sizes.
Due to high requirements for the charter capitals, the owners of guest houses and country houses could not receive licenses to provide hotel services. This caused complaints by law enforcement bodies as it hindered registration of their guests and compete with licensed organizations.
It is worth to mention that foreign citizens should be registered at the hotels in line with the requirement of the legislation.
The new resolution will allow to increase number of entities in tourism sector and offer various accommodation services to tourists. It will also help to increase tourists inflow to areas, where hotel infrastructure is not developed well such as rural areas, mountainous areas, etc.
The resolution also divided tourism activities into three services such as hotel, tour operator and excursion services. This will also help to set gradations for licensing of their activities.
