Legislative Chamber Passes Bill to Improve E-Commerce Regulation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis has conceptually reviewed and passed in the second reading a bill aimed at improving the regulation of e-commerce.
The document was drafted in response to the rapid growth of e-commerce and the emergence of new digital platforms and services, which require clear legislative regulation of relations between industry participants and the establishment of standards for its further development.
The bill clarifies the types of activities for operators of electronic trading platforms, order aggregators, and digital streaming service operators in line with the Law “On Licensing, Permitting, and Notification Procedures.”
It also introduces a procedure for notifying the authorized state body about the start or termination of e-commerce operations and sets out liability for non-compliance with this requirement.
Lawmakers emphasized that the adoption of the bill will ensure the reliability and transparency of e-commerce operators, foster a competitive environment, and protect the rights and legitimate interests of citizens.
After discussion, the bill was passed in the second reading.
