Legislative Chamber holds conference on quality of medicaments
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Committee on labour and social issues of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan held a conference “Current state of provision of population with quality medicaments: problems and the ways of their solution” on 14 October 2011.

MPs of Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, representatives of ministries, departments and organizations participated at the event.

During independence years, Uzbekistan carries out wide-scale reforms, directed at modernization of the country, development and liberalization of social system. Health of people is one of main priorities of the social policy of Uzbekistan.

Participants noted that Uzbekistan pays great attention to protecting citizens’ healthcare, further strengthening material-technical base of medical establishments, rendering high quality medical services to population, providing citizens with medicaments, etc.

During the conference, it was noted that Uzbekistan adopted several laws to ensure high quality medical services to population. Uzbekistan adopted 22 laws, 10 decrees and resolutions of the president, 21 resolutions of the government.

Participants said that the country also pays attention to further developing pharmaceutical industry, medicaments markets to provide population with high quality medicaments. The government also approved several documents in this direction.

MPs presented information on the results of controlling-analytical work on execution of laws in this direction in places.

The participants noted provision of population with medicaments is in high level. However, the participants underlined necessity to study execution of laws and by-laws to prevent existing problems in the sector and its further development.

The conference participants discussed priority directions of developing pharmaceutical industry. The participants considered issues of improving quality of medicaments, licensing pharmaceutical activity, as well as training high skilled employees for drugstores and pharmaceutical enterprises.

Attendees discussed efficiency and security of medicaments, produced in Uzbekistan, as well as prevention of infectious diseases and smuggling of low quality medicaments to Uzbekistan.

At the end of the conference, the participants adopted recommendations directed at execution of the law “On medical means and pharmaceutical activity”. The committee adopted a corresponding decision.
