Legislative Chamber considers several laws
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan held a session and discussed several draft laws this week.

MPs considered a draft law “On introduction of changes and amendments to the law “On telecommunication” in the second reading.

The draft law was developed in line with the Concept on further deepening on democratic reforms and forming civil society in the country. The draft law was aimed at ensuring full protection interests of users and legal entities in telecommunication area, as well as information security and keeping secret of transferred information. The draft law introduces new notions and clarifies responsibilities of the authorized bodies.

The draft law “On introduction of changes and amendments into some legislative acts of Uzbekistan in connection with improvement of legislation on intellectual property” in the second reading was considered at the lower house of parliament. The draft law was developed in line with the presidential residence from 24 May 2011 “On creation of Agency for intellectual property of Uzbekistan” and it is directed at further improving existence of legislation on intellectual property.

The considered draft laws were passed and directed to the Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan for approval.

MPs also discussed a draft law “On introduction of changes and amendments to the Law “On foreign investments”. The draft law was developed in line with the Concept on further deepening on democratic reforms and forming civil society in the country.

The proposed changes and amendments are directed at further stimulating attraction of foreign investments, especially to high-technologic sectors of industry, further improving investment climate, creating favourable conditions for operation of foreign investors in Uzbekistan. The draft law was passed in the first reading. The corresponding committee was entrusted to improve the draft law with proposed recommendations.

During the session, the Legislative Chamber sent parliamentary request to the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare of Uzbekistan A. Haitov on execution of the programme on creating jobs and ensuring employment of population for 2011.

The parliamentary request was developed by fraction of People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan and the Committee on labour and social welfare of the Legislative Chamber.

Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan also considered several issues of its jurisdiction.
