Legislative Chamber approves changes in military service law

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan approved on 2 December changes to the law on the military service.
The law on introducing changes in articles 18 and 19 of the law on military service was developed in accordance with the November decree of the President. The decree established that from 2009 the young men would be called up in the army one time per year instead of two times previously.
The deputies highlighted the importance of the improvement of the legislative basis of the Armed Forces and strengthening the defensibility of the country.
The law will now be sent to Senate for approval.
