Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, together with Prime Minister of the Italian Republic Giorgia Meloni, visited the exhibition titled “Uzbekistan and Italy: Dialogue of Civilizations”, held at the Congress Center in the city of Samarkand.

This unique exhibition is dedicated to the centuries-old historical, scientific, and cultural ties between the two nations. It is organized into nine thematic sections, including “Trade Relations between the Roman and Kushan Empires,” “The First Renaissance,” “Marco Polo,” “Amir Temur,” “Mirzo Ulugbek,” “Mirzo Babur,” “Italians in Uzbekistan in the 19th Century,” “The Contribution of Uzbeks to the Liberation of Italy during World War II,” and “Uzbekistan and Italy: Preserving Cultural Heritage.”

The centerpiece of the exhibition — a stunning reproduction of the Afrasiab fresco “Reception of Ambassadors by the Ruler of Samarkand”, crafted using the Florentine mosaic technique by renowned Italian artist Mauro Pellizzoni — was presented to the distinguished guests.

The leaders also viewed a wide array of artifacts, graphic projections, manuscripts and miniatures, rare literary publications, sculptures, archival photographs, and historical documents that together reflect the rich history and cultural dialogue between Uzbekistan and Italy.
