Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 30 December, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with the National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The leaders warmly congratulated each other and their nations on the upcoming New Year, 2025, wishing health, well-being, peace, and prosperity.

During the discussion, the parties reviewed key issues related to strengthening Uzbek-Turkmen relations based on friendship, good neighborliness, and strategic partnership.

They highlighted the growth in mutual trade, as well as developments in cooperation in energy, transport, industry, agriculture, and water management. Special attention was given to enhancing interagency and interregional collaboration, alongside cultural, humanitarian, and business exchanges.

President Mirziyoyev emphasized the significance of events held in 2024 to mark the 300th anniversary of the renowned poet and thinker Makhtumkuli Fraghi. As part of the celebrations, a joint feature film was produced, and several cultural events were organized.

The leaders also touched on regional cooperation matters, including preparations for the upcoming Consultative Meeting of the Heads of Central Asian States, and agreed on the schedule of forthcoming events.
