Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The practical implementation of high-level agreements and the promotion of investment projects were the main focus of a phone conversation between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on 17 December.
The President warmly congratulated the Emir of Qatar on the National Day – the Founding Day of the State – and sincerely wished him health, prosperity, and success, as well as peace and prosperity for the friendly Qatari people.
The leaders discussed current issues related to further expanding multifaceted cooperation and strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries.
The results of active contacts and exchanges were positively assessed. In November this year, the first session of the Intergovernmental Commission and a business forum were successfully held in Doha. In October, Tashkent hosted the events of Qatar Culture Week with great success.
Investment projects are being implemented with the participation of leading Qatari companies in the fields of energy, transport and tourism infrastructure, agriculture, healthcare, and other priority sectors.
Regular direct air communication has been established between the capitals, promoting the growth of mutual tourism flow.
During the conversation, the heads of state paid special attention to the schedule of upcoming events in 2025, including the holding of the second summit of the "Central Asia – Gulf Cooperation Council" dialogue.
They also exchanged views on current issues on the international agenda.
