Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — From 10 to 11 November 2024, a delegation from Uzbekistan, led by Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade Laziz Kudratov, paid a working visit to the State of Qatar.
During the visit, the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was held, and the Uzbek-Qatari Business Forum took place. Additionally, the delegation conducted meetings and negotiations with the leaders of major Qatari companies.
Speaking at the Intergovernmental Commission session, Laziz Kudratov emphasized the importance of fully unlocking the potential of Uzbek-Qatari cooperation in areas such as IT technologies, trade, investment, agriculture, ecology, transport and logistics, education, healthcare, culture, tourism, and sports.
In a constructive dialogue, the key areas of bilateral cooperation were thoroughly discussed, a wide range of issues addressed, and specific steps outlined for further developing interactions.
Sheikh Mohammad Al-Thani, Qatar's Minister of Commerce and Industry and head of the Qatari delegation, noted the significant growth in trade and economic relations between the two countries, expressing the Qatari business community’s trust in Uzbekistan. He also highlighted Qatar’s readiness to support and introduce new initiatives in the agenda for bilateral cooperation.
At the Uzbek-Qatari Business Forum, which was attended by over 100 representatives of leading companies from both countries, unique opportunities for investment activities in Uzbekistan were presented.
Mutually beneficial projects were proposed in sectors such as textiles, food industry, agriculture, mining and metallurgy, energy and petrochemicals, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, transport and logistics, as well as opportunities arising for participants in the state-owned enterprise privatization program.
Uzbekistan expressed its readiness to provide comprehensive support at every stage of implementing investment projects, from identifying potential opportunities to creating and developing businesses.
During the visit, Laziz Kudratov also met with leaders of Qatari companies specializing in sectors such as gas chemistry, energy, IT technologies, healthcare, tourism, livestock, and construction materials manufacturing.
As a result of the visit, both sides noted that the agreements reached reflect the significant reforms underway in Uzbekistan, the effectiveness of its investment climate, and the confidence of investors ready for direct investments in various sectors of Uzbekistan.
