Law enforcement officers halted illegal drug trafficking

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Illegal drug trafficking has been stopped in several regions of Uzbekistan, UzA reports.

The operations began in the Samarkand district of Samarkand region, where law enforcement officers stopped a Nexia car with a passenger named E. M. During a search, 7 kg 230 g of hashish and 1 kg 289 g of methamphetamine were found, which had been imported into the country from Afghanistan.

The next operation took place in the Urgut district of Samarkand region, where two previously convicted individuals attempted to sell 921 g of opium for $12,000. This drug had been smuggled from Tajikistan.

In Namangan, two young men were arrested while trying to retrieve 3 kg 50 g of hashish. The drugs had been hidden by Tajik drug dealers in one of the fields in the Chust district.

Additionally, in the Naryn district of Namangan region, a Lacetti car was stopped, with a previously convicted passenger carrying 1 kg 911 g of hashish, brought from Kyrgyzstan.

In the Denau district of Surkhandarya region, a man with a criminal record was detained, who intended to sell 2 kg 16 g of opium from Tajikistan for US$10,000.

Criminal cases have been initiated on all of these incidents under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code, and investigations are ongoing.
