Lacko wins title at Tashkent ATP Challenger
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Lucas Lacko of Slovakia won the coveted double crown winning the singles and doubles title at the $125,000 Tashkent ATP Challenger, which ended in Uzbek capital.

Lacko who won the doubles title pairing Croat Ante Pavic, played strongly to register a 6-2, 6-3 facile win over Second seeded Sergiy Stakhovsky of Ukraine in just 56 minutes.

Currently ranked 83 in the world, the third seeded Lacko played effortlessly to break the second seeded Stakhovsky currently ranked 72 in the world in the 4th and the 8th game of the first set. Lacko played a baseline game to pin the net racing Stakhovsky and forced him into errors.

In the second set Stakhovsky seemed to make amends for his errors remaining on top till the 8th game , a momentary lapse of concentration saw him broken . Lacko then served out the 9th game and raised his arm to celebrate his win.

"Its third time lucky for me this is my second final and also played two semifinals here before , I’m really happy " said Lacko whose win here will take him to around 75 . " Apart from the double crown here, I have ensured myself a main draw entry into Australian open ", Lacko said after the match.

“Winning the singles and the doubles title in one event is rare, this is the second time I have won the singles and the doubles event, the first one was at an event in Bratislava in 2011. My goal next year will be to play Shanghai Masters , if I don’t get in I will be back here for sure to defend my title,” he said.

“I tried hard, but nothing worked for me today , I congratulate Lacko on his win here,” said Stakhovsky after his loss. Lacko received $18000 and 125 ATP points and the traditional Uzbek Chapan for his singles win, while Stakhovsky had to be satisfied with $10800 and 75 ATP points,” he added.
