Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Trade Representation of the Kyrgyz Republic in Uzbekistan has conducted negotiations with a major supermarket chain regarding the supply of potatoes.

According to the trade representation, contracts for the supply are expected to be signed in the near future.

Almaz Temirbekov, the Trade Representative of Kyrgyzstan in Uzbekistan, provided samples of five potato varieties (Picasso, Jelly, Actress, Sanibel, and Captiva). He also expressed readiness to support the import procedures and contract negotiations with Kyrgyz suppliers.

Preliminary agreements include three weekly deliveries of 60 tons each. The partnership is anticipated to be long-term and seasonal.

The trade representation notes that potato supplies from Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan represent a promising business opportunity, given Kyrgyzstan’s favorable conditions for potato cultivation and the high demand for this product in Uzbekistan.
