Kurash will feature in Asian Games 2013
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 14 July 2011 the delegation of the International Kurash Association headed by it's President Mr. Komil Yusupov attended the XXX General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia held at the International Convention Center in Tokyo, Japan.

The Olympic Council of Asia is the continental organization controlling the Olympic movement in Asia and uniting national Olympic committees of all 45 Asian states. The OCA is the main organizer and owner of different Asian Games, namely Summer Games, Indoor and Martial Arts Games, Winter Games, Youth Games, Beach Games. The Asian Summer Games are the second largest international multi-sport event after Summer Olympics.

The General Assembly in Tokyo discussed various important matters including reports of organizing committees of all upcoming Asian Games, reports by OCA Executive Board members, as well as elections of the EB members. HRH Sheikh Ahmad Al Fahad Al Sabah the current OCA President was reelected unopposed to a new term. The International Kurash Association would like to cordially congratulate HRH Sheikh Ahmad with his reelection and wishes him the successful new term as the leader of the one of the most important sport organizations in the world.

The very good news came for Kurash as well. The General Assembly approved the official competition program of the IV Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games to be held in Incheon, Korea from 29 June to 6 July 2013. Previously the OCA was organizing these Games separately from each other featuring around 30 different sports. But starting from 2013 the OCA decided to unite these two games and cut the number of featured sports to only nine sports. In spite of radical decrease of number of sports in the program, Kurash was officially unveiled during the General Assembly in Tokyo as one of nine official sports to be in the program of the Games in Incheon in 2013.

After the General Assembly Mr. Yusupov had a formal meeting with Sheikh Ahmad. He congratulated him with reelection and thanked for his strong support given to Kurash in the framework of Asian Games and Olympic movement in Asia. HRH Sheikh Ahmad expressed his support to Kurash and said that he hoped that Kurash would feature in many more editions of various Asian Games becoming an integral part of the Asian sport movement.
