The Cabinet of Ministers issued the resolution "On opening of office of Export-Import Bank of Korea in Uzbekistan" on 19 November 2007.
Korean Eximbank is planning to carry out activity to attract grants and soft long-term credits of the South Korean government into Uzbekistan. Currently, the Korean bank allocated soft long-term credits for US$120 million, including US$14 million to telecommunication network development, US$76 million to equip colleges and US$30 million to equip public schools.
Eximbank of Korea also issued commercial credits for US$190 million, of which US$108 million were already used. The credits were used to finance production of Matiz car at UzDaewoo Auto (US$35.9m), supplies of spare parts to UzDaewoo Auto (US$20m) and small business.
Currently, ten foreign banks have their offices in Uzbekistan, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan said.
