Korean delegation pays visit to IUT within Uzbek-Korean FOSS Forum
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of the Republic of Korea visited Inha University in Tashkent (IUT) on 13 July 2016 within the Uzbek-Korean Forum on Free and Open-Source Software.

The Uzbek-Korean Forum on Free and Open-Source Software will take place in Tashkent from 13 to 15 July. The forum includes several panel discussions and roundtables, the press service of Inha University in Tashkent said.

The Forum is organized by the Ministry of Development of Information Technologies and Communications of Uzbekistan, Korea National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA), Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), “Electronic Government” System Development Center, Tashkent University of Information Technologies and Inha University in Tashkent.

The delegation of the Republic of Korea, including representatives of NIPA, Bridgesoft, Publion, Cubrid, Korean Association of stimulating FOSS and Korea Small & Medium IT Business Export Cooperative, arrived in Uzbekistan to participate in the Forum.

On 13 July, the Korean delegation visited Tashkent University of Information Technologies and Inha University in Tashkent.

Panel discussions with participation of representatives of public and private sectors, as well as students took place in Inha University in Tashkent on 13 July.

At the discussions, the participants discussed open data base solutions and open source learning platform Moodle. Cubrid CEO Byungjoo Chung presented open source database solution, offered by his company. In particular, he briefed participants on advantages of Cubrid database compared to other products in the market.

Ho Won, Professor of Kongju University, talked about source learning platform Moodle for organization of efficient education. In his presentation, he shared his knowledge on use of Moodle in organization of education process and new methods of teaching.

On 14 July, a round table within the framework of Uzbek-Korean Forum on Free and Open-Source Software will take place in Tashkent.

On 15 July, the capital of Uzbekistan will host the Uzbek-Korean Forum on Free and Open-Source Software. Yoon Jong-lok, President of Korea National IT Industry Promotion Agency, will participate in the event.

Free and open-source software (FOSS) is computer software that can be classified as both free software and open-source software. This means that the software is freely licensed to use, copy, study, and change the software in any way, and the source code is openly shared so that people are encouraged to voluntarily improve it.
