Korean Culture Ministry announces contest for Asian Creative Story
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ministry of Culture, Sport, and Tourism of the Republic of Korea announced an international contest for Asian Creative Story.

The contest is organized by the Asia Storytelling Committee and supported by the Ministries of culture of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

This year, the contest is organized for the fourth time and dedicated to fairy tales and digital comics based on the 200 works of verbal folk art from Asia, which were selected by Ministry of Culture of South Korea.

The applications will be received till 31 August 2014. The contest is open both for individuals and groups. There is no age, gender or citizenship limits.

The works can be presented in Korea, Russian and English, the organizers said.

The final stage of the contest will be held in October 2014, which will be attended by each member state of the Asia Storytelling Committee.

A total of 30 million Korean wons will be awarded to the prize winners. The winner of the grand prize, the Asia Storytelling Committee Prize, will receive 15 million Korean wons. Each of the five winners of the culture ministers’ prizes from four Asian countries -- Korea, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan -- will receive 2 million Korean wons. Each of the five winners of the Head of Hub City of Asian Culture Prize will receive 1 million Korean wons.

The award-winning works will be published and receive support so that they can be released as actual cultural content. Successful works from previous contests will be featured in the Asia Storytelling Festival, which will take place from September 25-28, based on the theme of “The 200 Stories of Asia.”
