Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Khiva city of Khorezm region will host the festival “Archery and folk games” on 6-8 September 2019.

The main goal of this ethno festival is the restoration of lost national games, bringing them to the youth. For this event, causing great interest, has already begun preparations. Representatives of the World Confederation of Ethnosport Yasin Tutunju and Salih Aksu visited the National Olympic Committee on 9 July to discuss issues related to the organization of this festival at a high level.

“We are here to welcome you here,” Jasur Matchanov, Secretary General of the Uzbek NOC of Uzbekistan, said. - Archery was a favorite pastime of our ancestors. We are very grateful to you that we are restoring this sport together. The city of Khiva is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List as the “City under the open sky”. Holding a festival in this city that promotes national games will serve the useful and noble goal of restoring our values. This year only national games will be shown at the festival. And in the future we intend to turn this festival into a demonstration of the values of our neighboring nations.

 “Indeed, it will be a historical event,” Yasin Tutunju noted. - This is only the beginning of our cooperation. Representatives of the Archery Federation of Uzbekistan showed us a presentation of the festival. Selected a very beautiful place for this event. The holding of this festival will allow young people to know better the history of their people. In the world only in a few countries such festivals are held. Recently, an event was organized in Istanbul. As a result, hundreds of thousands of young people familiarized themselves with their national games and started practicing them.

At the meeting, an exchange of views on the issues of the festival. Thus, it is planned to study the national games of each region of the country and present them at the festival. It is planned to hold archery competitions standing and on horseback, kurash and many other national sports.
