Khorezm region hosts project “1,000 Weddings and 1,000 Sunnat-tuy”
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
Sixty young couples and eighty boys have been the center of attention on 23-24 August in Khorezm Region under the project “1,000 Weddings and 1,000 Sunnat-tuy” (circumcision) launched at the initiative of Gulnara Karimova, the Chairperson of the Fund Forum’s Board of Trustees. The project seeks to support low-income families as well as boys and girls who grew up in orphanages.
The project “1,000 Weddings and 1,000 Sunnat-tuy” took place in Urgench and Khiva cities, Bagat, Hazarasp, Hanqa and Gurlen districts.
Some 2,000 people were invited to the weddings and sunnat-tuys. Brides were in white wedding dresses of Guli brand, which were created for the project “1,000 Weddings and 1,000 Sunnat-tuy”. The project’s sponsors handed gifts to pairs, while boys received various toys, bicycles and others.
One of popular tourism sights of Khiva, Ichan Qala, also hosted weddings. The guests tested national dishes and enjoyed dances and songs. The event also attracted interest of foreign tourists.
Local farmers and businesses also contributed to organization of the events and they handed over TV-sets, carpets to newlyweds and clothes and bicycles to boys. All businesses, who participated in the project, received diplomas from organizers.
