Tashkent Textile and Light Industry Institute with the support of Fund Forum and Osiyo Ramzi Uzbekistan Fashion Designers Association conduct this festival and show for the fifth time. The runway allows young and talented designers to express their creative ideas and make them known. Actually, the festival is their first step in the world of high fashion.

Traditionally the show of khan-atlas collections was prepared by novice designers: students and young teachers of the Tashkent Textile and Light Industry Institute and creative young people. Despite the fact they just started their career, they succeeded to show their vision of modern fashion in Uzbekistan.

Young designers of Uzbekistan prepared 17 collections, more than 160 models of casual and evening clothes, made from national fabrics. In their collections designers tried to combine world fashion trends with Uzbekistan traditions. For each collection designers used khan atlas as the main fabric, decoration, accessories and insets. At the same time they used modern styles with original design solutions.

According to the pro-rector of the Tashkent Textile and Light Industry Institute Khalida Kamilovna, working on their collections, young designers studied history, culture and traditions of the country and history of Uzbek dress. A great attention was paid to the accessories: shoes, bags, bents, ribbons, design of which complied with the theme of the event.

"In fact, it is really difficult to work with the khan-atlas, says Khalid Hafizovna - because of the image texture of atlas, difficulty of combination of traditional ornament with other fabrics. In addition the fabric is moved apart during the sewing and therefore this work requires patience and jewelry accurance". Probably, for all these reason, in ancient times only professionals worked with Khan-Atlas, kept their secrets and passed knowledge on atlas only to their children and grandchildren.

As Ms. Kamilova noted, " a powerful incentive to the development of fashion in Uzbekistan was given by the successful national brand “GULI”, which took a worthy place in the world of high fashion. Today this brand is so recognizable that makes it possible to promote on the world podium the national culture and traditions of Uzbek dress, which has been already reflected in the works of many famous fashion designers of the world."

This year the Khan Atlas Festival was held for the fifth time. In addition to the Festival the Fund Forum regularly holds the Art Week Style.uz, National Dress Festival, Festival of Children's Fashion "Bolajonlar-shirintoylar", scientific conferences, workshops and other events on the development of design and fashion and the support of young designers.
