Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan hold political consultations
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan held political consultations in Astana, capital city of Kazakhstan, on 24-25 August 2009. The delegations were led by Kazakh Deputy Foreign Minister Nurlan Yermekbayev and Uzbek Deputy Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Islamov.

The sides discussed the issues of interaction within the SCO, OSCE, CICA, and UN, as wekk as priority direction and prospects of the activity in economy, security and humanitarian sphere in the Central Asian region.

The Uzbek side expressed support to the upcoming Kazakhstan’s OSCE chairmanship in 2010. The Kazakh side, in its turn, expressed support to the Uzbekistan’s SCO chairmanship this year.

The sides exchanged opinions on actual issues of the bilateral cooperation in the political, trade-economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, including the ways of further strengthening of the strategic partnership between the countries.

Officials of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan underlined need for development of coordinated and mutually acceptable mechanisms on joint use of the water-energy resources in the region.

On the results of consultations, the sides underlined single and common positions on majority of considered issues and agreed regularly held meetings to discuss actual issues of bilateral cooperation and in multilateral format.
