Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Kazakhstan has imposed restrictions on the re-export of Russian grain to Uzbekistan and China until the end of 2024, according to TASS, citing Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.
Bektenov explained that the decision is tied to the ban on wheat imports from third countries and member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). Earlier, Kazakhstan had already prohibited wheat imports from these sources until the end of 2024, complicating the re-export of Russian grain to Uzbekistan and China.
Additionally, the prime minister noted that in 2024, Kazakhstan increased unified tariffs for the transit of goods from EAEU countries through its territory.
It is worth recalling that Kazakhstan introduced the ban on wheat imports from third countries and EAEU member states in August of this year.
