Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Kazakhstan may begin pumping gas from Russia to Uzbekistan by the end of October. This was announced by the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Almasadam Satkaliev.

According to him, Kazakhstan is completing work on repairing the pipeline in the country. Once the repair work is completed, the start of gas transit will be announced.

“Gas volumes are being agreed upon in accordance with the application of the Uzbek side. That is, as soon as we receive the application, we will begin transit,” Satkaliev said.

Completion of renovation work is scheduled for the end of October 2023.

On 25 September, the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan stated that Uzbekistan had prepared the infrastructure necessary to import Russian gas through Kazakhstan.

On 16 June 2023, the Russian company Gazprom and Uzbekistan signed a contract for the supply of natural gas at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The agreement was concluded for two years. Gas supplies to Uzbekistan were planned to begin on 1 October.
