Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  Forest industry enterprises from Karelia have begun regular shipments of timber to Uzbekistan. The monthly export volume reaches up to 1,000 cubic meters, according to the government of the Republic of Karelia.

Dmitry Rodionov, the Deputy Prime Minister of Karelia for economic issues, highlighted that cooperation with Uzbekistan is a priority for the region and is showing positive dynamics. "We are witnessing growth in the timber industry trade. Currently, the monthly timber supply is about 1,000 cubic meters, and plans are already being discussed to increase this volume," Rodionov said.

Additionally, Karelia is expanding its collaboration with Uzbekistan in the field of wild berry processing. In 2023, the republic exported 20 tons of berry products to Uzbekistan, double the amount from 2022. Furthermore, paper and cardboard shipments from JSC Kondopozhsky Pulp and Paper Mill and JSC Segezha Pulp and Paper Mill tripled last year. In 2024, paper exports are expected to maintain the same level as in 2023.

In October, a delegation from Karelia visited Uzbekistan on an official trip. During business negotiations, a contract was signed between the RK-Grand plant and the Uzbek company INNO-PANEL LLC for the supply of 40 tons of cellulose for the construction and road sectors.

The company "Karelia Palp" signed three foreign economic contracts with Uzbek enterprises for paper supply. The Nadvoitsy plant "TDM" sent its Uzbek partners samples of next-generation feed additives based on shungite for agricultural purposes. The plant also entered into an agreement with Birinchi Rezinotextika Zavodi LLC (Angren) for the supply of fillers for tire and tape production.
