"Kadyrov should apologize to the people of Uzbekistan" — MP

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 27 December 2024, Odiljon Tojiev, a deputy in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, sharply criticized Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, condemning his remarks and interference in Uzbekistan’s internal affairs, as well as his threats against Uzbek officials.

"I categorically condemn Ramzan Kadyrov’s interference in the affairs of our state and his attempts to exert pressure on Uzbek civil servants. Such actions are unacceptable as they can harm the friendly relations between the peoples of our countries and jeopardize interstate cooperation," said Tojiev.

The deputy emphasized the need for Russian authorities to legally evaluate Kadyrov’s actions.

"I urge the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation to conduct a thorough investigation into the statements made by the head of Chechnya and provide a legal assessment," he noted.

Tojiev also believes that Kadyrov should apologize for his statements.

"Ramzan Kadyrov must publicly apologize to the people of Uzbekistan for his remarks, which are unacceptable in international practice and harm the good-neighborly relations between our countries."

Additionally, the deputy called on Kadyrov to assist in locating the suspects involved in the attempted assassination of Uzbek officials.

"If Ramzan Kadyrov truly considers himself a friend of our people, he must assist the Prosecutor General’s Office of Uzbekistan in locating Bislon Rasaev and Shamil Temirkhanov and facilitating their transfer to Uzbek law enforcement," stressed the parliamentarian.

Earlier, it was reported that Russian citizens Bislon Rasaev and Shamil Temirkhanov, natives of Chechnya, had been placed on Uzbekistan’s wanted list through Interpol. They are facing charges under multiple articles of the criminal code. According to sources, the men were offered US$1.5 million for organizing the murder of Komil Allamjonov and the head of the National Agency of Prospective Projcts (NAPP), Dmitry Li.

On 26 December, Ramzan Kadyrov published a statement rejecting accusations of a "Chechen connection" in the assassination attempt case. He also made harsh remarks against Dmitry Li and Komil Allamjonov, threatening that "they will answer according to our traditions if they do not stop playing the victims."

In response to Kadyrov’s statements, former MP and adviser to the Minister of Ecology of Uzbekistan, Rasul Kusherbayev, also spoke out.

On 27 December, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Uzbekistan confirmed that Bislon Rasaev and Shamil Temirkhanov had been placed on the international wanted list. This confirms the "Chechen connection" in the ongoing investigation.

It is worth recalling that on 26 October, an unknown group fired at a Range Rover in Tashkent region, in which Komil Allamjonov — the former head of the Department of Information Policy of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan — was traveling.
