Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Oliver Anderson has continued the recent tradition of local success in the Australian Open junior boys’ championships after running away with a courageous 6-2 1-6 6-1 win over Uzbekistan’s No.7 Jurabeck Karimov.

The 17-year-old Queenslander becomes the fifth Aussie in the past 10 years to win the title, joining Nick Kyrgios (2013), Luke Saville (‘12), Bernard Tomic (‘08) and Brydan Klein (‘07) on the honour roll after a tough match at Rod Laver Arena that lasted an hour and 43 minutes.

Bouncing back from a sluggish second set in which he only managed to hold one service game, Anderson battled a right leg problem that appeared to limit his movement.

After an injury timeout, Anderson charged out in the third set, smashing his way to a 5-1 lead before serving out the match to close out his first junior Grand Slam title.
