Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Due to the likelihood of a new outbreak of coronavirus infection in winter, the judo tournament "Grand Slam", which was to be held in December in Tokyo, will not take place. This is reported by the Japanese media.
According to "Kyodo News", President of the IJF Marius Wieser held talks with the head of the Japanese Judo Federation Yasuhiro Yamashita. During the conversation, the leaders paid special attention to the health issue of athletes.
Last month, the IJF announced the restart of the judo competition, with the Tokyo Grand Slam scheduled for 11-13 December. The first competition from the "Grand Slam" series after the restart will be held on 23-25 October in Budapest.
