Economy 08/05/2007 Jordan PM meets Uzbek business delegation

Prime Minister of Jordan Marouf Al Bakhit on Monday received a delegation representing the Uzbekistan Businesswomen Association, Petra reported.

During the meeting, Al Bakhit underlined the royal directives to boost relations with Central Asian countries through increasing the Jordanian diplomatic representation by opening three embassies in Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, the report said.

The premier talked about the achievements of Jordan, since His Majesty King Abdullah’s assumption to the Throne and the economic openness because of the international agreements Jordan signed.

Bakhit called, during the meeting which was attended by Minister of State for Prime Ministry Affairs Mohi Al Deen Touq and Head of Jordan Forum for Business and Professional Women (JFBPW) Senator Wijdan Al Saket, on the visiting delegation to look into the investment opportunities in Jordan, the report added.

Members of the delegation expressed hope that this visit would be a step towards enhancing the economic, social and cultural cooperation between the two countries and exchanging visits.

They also stressed the Uzbekistani leadership’s keenness to boost relations with Jordan.
