Joint tasks with the diplomatic missions of Uzbekistan on the development of investment and foreign trade activities discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 29 December, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade chaired by Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev to analyze the results of the current year and discuss further measures to develop foreign economic activity. It was attended by heads of ministries and departments, industry associations, local authorities and heads of diplomatic missions of Uzbekistan in foreign countries.

The effectiveness of the joint work of the diplomatic missions of Uzbekistan with ministries, departments and local authorities to ensure the growth of foreign trade, attract foreign direct investment, develop industrial cooperation and establish strong business contacts between Uzbek and foreign entrepreneurs was noted.

In the context of specific partner countries of Uzbekistan, the results of the work of diplomatic missions to support export activities were analyzed. The need to take practical measures to ensure the volume of exports of products in the amount of US$23 billion in 2023 based on a significant expansion of geography and diversification of the export structure was emphasized.

In this context, the prospects of using the benefits and preferences of the EU "GSP +", organizing industrial exhibitions "Made in Uzbekistan", analyzing potential importing enterprises to promote competitive products, the importance of continuing systematic work to eliminate tariff and non-tariff barriers when delivering local products to foreign markets .

The work of the heads of diplomatic missions on the issues of reducing receivables under export contracts, promoting new transport corridors and developing logistics chains for exporting products was analyzed. The heads of diplomatic missions of Uzbekistan in the respective countries were given clear instructions on intensifying negotiations on obtaining benefits for port and transit services for Uzbek goods, completing work on the feasibility studies being developed for transport and logistics projects of regional importance, ensuring the uninterrupted use of seaports by Uzbek entrepreneurs in partner countries, as well as exploring new opportunities and developing relevant proposals for alternative routes for the delivery of goods.

During the meeting, the progress of work on joining the World Trade Organization was also considered. Specific instructions were given on comprehensive preparation for the 6th meeting of the Working Group and the timely completion of bilateral negotiations with WTO member countries.

Based on the results of the meeting, the relevant managers were given additional targeted instructions as part of the timely and high-quality execution of the tasks set.
