A Japanese delegation led by Toshihisa Takata, deputy director-general of the Trade Policy Bureau at the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, has been visiting Uzbekistan. Along with participation in the Uzbek-Japanese economic dialogue and cooperation opportunities international conference over the last several days, the Japanese mission visited Navoiy airport on 17 November.

Currently, Navoiy airport is under modernization, the Uzbek TV’s Yoshlar channel reported.

Toshihisa Takata said: "The Japanese government considers Uzbekistan as the main partner in the region and the heart of the Great Silk Road in the 21st century. I think the upgrading of Navoiy airport to meet the international standards is an achievement attributed not only to Uzbekistan, but also to us. We will benefit from further cooperation in this field."

Following a tour of the airport, the delegation also expressed an interest in the telecommunications, mechanical engineering, and tourism sectors in the region.
