Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On the third day of Style.Uz 2012 the Tashkent House of Photography welcomed the public to attend exhibitions “Mt. Fuji, The Sacred Mountain”, a collection of photos by remarkable photographer Koyo Okada, and “Mt. Fuji, The Mysterious Mountain”, a collection of photos by talented photographer Shiro Shirahata. The 94 black-and-white photos by the two Japanese professionals celebrate the magnificence of Fuji, the tallest mountain in Japan and one of the world’s most beautiful, official website of Style.uz said.

Mount Fuji has influenced not only Japanese but also international arts and literature. No other mountain has been given as much attention as has Japan’s Fuji. “It is divine and it beggars description,” said Akmal Nur, the Chairman of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan, looking at the photos of the mountain. “It is like a young girl, fresh and clean”.

Mount Fuji is compared with a flower. From the end of March to early May people in Japan celebrate Hanami, a time when sakura blooms all over Japan and people have outdoor parties or outings at the foot of Mount Fuji and feast their eyes on the blossoms.

An active volcano that last erupted in 1707–08, Mount Fuji lies about 100 kilometers south-west of Tokyo and can be seen from there on a clear day. Mount Fuji’s exceptionally symmetrical cone, which is snow-capped several months a year, is a well-known symbol of Japan and it is frequently depicted in art and photographs.

Fuji is a gift of nature that has drawn a multitude of pilgrims and has inspired poets and artists throughout centuries. The 94 black-and-white photos by Okada and Shirahata portray the beauty of the mountain and the way it harmonizes with nature.

As a young man, Okada was besotted by the beauty of Mt. Fuji and continued to capture its majesty throughout his life. He depicted the mountain in all its moods, colors and seasons by relying on his sensitivity to one of nature’s greatest gifts. All his works reveal his deep emotional attachment to Mt. Fuji. Indeed his work is a record of the timeless communication between nature and humans. These are moments in time captured for eternity. The photographs are full of heartfelt admiration for the beauty and the force of nature.

Shirahata was born at the foot of Mt. Fuji. His relation with Mt. Fuji was his destiny since he was born. He often walks around Mt. Fuji, and from there he catches the magnificent transfiguration of Mt. Fuji, which stands firmly against nature. These impressive works are the fruits of his artistic talent.
