Japan to allocate US$5.6m to modernize Navoi regional medical center
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Japan will provide a grant for 686 million Japanese yens (about US$5.6 million) to realize a project “Improving equipment of Navoi regional multidiscipline medical center”.

The Government of Uzbekistan issued a resolution “On measures on effective use of the grant of the Government of Japan for modernization and equipment of medical equipment of Navoi regional multidiscipline medical center”.

The document was adopted to ensure efficient use of the grant, provided by the Government of Japan, to the realization of the project.

The resolution underlined that Uzbekistan and Japan signed an exchange notes and grant agreement for allocation of 686 million Japanese yens (about US$5.6 million) to implementation of the project “Improving equipment of Navoi regional multidiscipline medical center”.

On 28 November 2015, Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan and International Techno Center Co., Ltd (Japan) signed an agreement on rendering consulting services within the project for 28 million yens (about US$228,000).

The resolution said that all goods, works and services, imported and purchased due to grant within the project will be exempted from customs payments.

Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan is responsible for targeted use of the grant and implementation of the project, the resolution said.

National Bank of Uzbekistan for Foreign Economic Activity was entrusted to sign an agreement on using and servicing the grant of the Japanese Government with the authorized bank of Japan.
