Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 29 October, Chairman of Uzbekistan’s Tourism Committee Umid Shadiev met with a Japanese delegation led by Governor of Nara Prefecture, Makoto Yamashita, to discuss potential tourism collaboration between Uzbekistan and Japan.
During the meeting, Uzbekistan highlighted recent major tourism reforms implemented under President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s leadership. Governor Yamashita emphasized Nara Prefecture’s focus on enhancing tourism infrastructure to create a welcoming environment for international visitors and expressed interest in sharing tourism expertise with Uzbekistan.
The parties discussed Uzbekistan’s participation in international tourism exhibitions in Japan and the upcoming "Tashkent International Tourism Fair TMTY-2024," which will feature Japanese representatives.
Governor Yamashita also held a separate meeting with Uzbekistan’s tourism business representatives, where they explored initiatives such as PR campaigns, festivals, and events to promote Uzbekistan’s tourism potential in Nara Prefecture. Additionally, they discussed educational courses for students and specialized training programs for Japanese-speaking tour guides.
This meeting marks a significant step in strengthening tourism ties between Uzbekistan and Nara Prefecture, paving the way for collaboration and mutual learning opportunities.
