Jamshid Kuchkarov holds a meeting with a delegation from Japan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 9 July, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Kuchkarov held a meeting with a delegation headed by Tadashi Maeda, President of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).

The meeting was attended by Masaoshi Fujimoto, Chairman of Sojitz Corporation; Kamel Yanikyemerglu, Chairman of the Board of Renaissance Healthcare; Jem Ozoguz, Chairman of the Board of Renaissance Eurasia; and Fusa Kodji, Founder and CEO of GVE.

The parties exchanged views on large-scale economic reforms in Uzbekistan, sustainable economic growth, development of the green economy, and promotion of green growth in all sectors.

Issues of further development of the energy sector, implementation of public-private partnership projects in healthcare and energy, use of renewable energy sources, improvement of energy efficiency, construction of modern roads and railways, and application of international experience in these areas were also discussed.

Following the negotiations, the parties agreed to develop and expand mutually beneficial cooperation.

Established in 1999, JBIC actively promotes the acceleration of Japanese exports and the development of international activities. JBIC’s total assets amount to $150 billion USD (as of 2023). In Uzbekistan, JBIC has implemented 11 projects totaling $2.6 billion USD.

Sojitz Corporation is one of Japan’s largest trading companies, engaged in a wide range of global business activities including international trade, investment, domestic production and sales, provision of services, as well as planning and coordination of projects both in Japan and overseas.
